Different colors

Nearly every swedish toller is registrerd with the color red or orange and white, red or orange with white markings or just red. But there are more colors, they are just not allowed by the standard. A buff toller has no red in his coat at all, he is beige, grey or has a silver color and light eyes. He can be with or without white markings. The buff color gene must be carried by both parents. When it cames to tollers with black in coat, it's enough that one parent are carrying the gene. One of the parents must have black in coat or have had it as a puppy. Sometimes, but not allways, the puppy looses the black hairs when he's getting older. Buff and black tollers are not allowed by the standard, but of course there are nothing wrong with them, except the color. You just can't use them as show dogs. The dogs mentioned here are listed so we can know where the genes are and try to avoid to cross them. I want to send a great thank you to all breeders who is registrating their puppies with the right colors, because not everybody are doing this!
